| On the 6th August W Connection went to Sangre Grande where they played well being that a few of their starting players were choosen to represent T&T in Japan in an international friendly. Utilising the skills of the young uprising players they gave a creditable account of ourselves. Unfortunately, W Connection went under by one (1) goal in the game, but when they replied, the goal was not awarded because the referee did not see.
On the 8th August the team played against Defence Force at Ato Boldon Stadium again with a team mixed with both young and uprising players, W Connection unsurprisingly emerged victorious. Goals were scored by William De Olliveria in the 15th minute, but Defence Force levelled the score. As the tension rose a brilliant knocking of the ball from one side to the next, with a pin point cross from Nicholson Thomas - without the ball dropping - George Isaac slammed the ball in the back of the net for a 2-1 win.
On the 12th August the third round started with W Connection playing United Petrotrin where they put a thrashing on Petrotrin with the same youthful squad. They scored as early as the 12th minute with a goal from one of our young uprising players - Matthew Bartholomew - who went on to score a hatrick. He also scored in the 27th minute and took the penalty in the 64th minute to score his hatrick for the pro team. Matthew is a member of the Under 18 Team as well as the captain. He has been one of the prolific goal scorers in our youth system, and since then he went on to achieving most goals for two consecutive years. William De Olliveria scored in the 20th minute and George Issac in the 32nd minute, with three goals being scored in 36th minute as Petrotrin did not have a come back for W Connection, their skillful great knocking of the ball pushed them in making two quick changes. W Connection came off the half leading by a four (4) - nil (0) margin.
In the second half, besides the penalty from Matthew in 64th minute, Hughton Hector scored in the 79th minute. With our "must score a goal player" a vetaran and prolific goal scorer- Mr. Earl Jean finished it off with a goal in the 84th minute. It was a thrilling performance from the players. The joy of it all and the higlight of the game was the fact that a few of the players who were from the youth team gave creditable performances for that match. It is evident that where W Connection football lies at the moment with a combination of experienced players and youths, it is safe to say that they can reach as far as they want to with dedication, committment and hard work - W Connection can achieve anything they we want.:
